A love nest in East Java

Mountains, rice fields, forest, traditional villages, tea and coffee plantations and this superb and intimate hotel in the middle of all of this, next to a river: amazing! Overflow water swimming-pool, good restaurant. The bungalows are cute and clean but it is not luxury. We love it!

A charming colonial hotel overlooking a lake (Java)

This ancient hotel located on the slopes of Lawu volcano near Solo city brings you back in old times. The terraces with authentic colonial furniture overlooking the lake, are a nice place to relax and dream.

That was THE hotel, the one where the Dutch elite spent their week-end at the beginning of this century. The rooms are rather simple but clean and comfortable (it was luxury at the time). Bathrooms have got hot shower. Very surprising are the open fire places in the living-room! You may use them if you feel that way… Well it gets cold in the evening up there!

The bright new bungalows of this eco-lodge located between the jungle of Meru Betiri Natural Reserve and a gorgeous white sand beach are surprisingly comfortable with air condition and nice private terrace. Luxury is the amazing environment, completely off the beaten path. Monkeys are all around as in our children fantasies.

Several beach restaurants offer simple traditional dishes and grilled seafood for very little money. This is one of the greatest places in Java, one of our well kept secret.

This eco-lodge has the privilege to be located right on the top of Bromo’s huge caldera. But you must be ready to tolerate the very basic comfort  of this place to enjoy its unbeatable views. All together we consider this to be the most exciting option in the area.

An eco-lodge in the middle of coffee plantations (near Ijen volcano)

If the management of this eco-lodge would be slightly better this place would be a perfect spot to enjoy rural Java. It is still the best place to stay if you are looking for eco-tourism or want to climb the Ijen volcano. Hot water, satellite international TV, and fair sized rooms are what is offered here. The swimming-pool is sometimes ok, sometimes not, you must be lucky.

This eco-lodge is spotlessly clean and is according to western standards, a little miracle in such a remote area. The views over the valley are tremendous. The management, the service and the restaurant are really nice. You feel you are in the middle of nowhere, which is what many of you are looking for.
